Imagine you own a dog, but really, you’d always secretly wanted a panda (I mean who doesn’t?), but let’s face it, it was already hard enough to convince your mother/roommate/partner to accept a dog in the house, so there’s no chance they’d support you having a bear… so you do it the chinese way, dye your dog’s hair so it looks like a wild life panda. I find this crazy trend cute as long as they use natural based dyes in the puppies, we all know it sucks, when your hair gets dry and fickle.

Part of the fun of ‘googling’ is finding out what new ‘dooble’ they’ve come up with each day, sometimes we are in for a treat. The people at Google came up with the ‘Google Doobles’ as a way to commemorate history and pay homage using their logo. That’s the first time a company has let people manipulate their logo, to make it their own, how cool is that? Google opens contests amongst artists and even children to feature their creations in their browser. Here are some of my favorite google doodles, got a favorite?

I remember doing finger puppet shows when I was a little girl, and by finger puppets I mean I drew funky and silly faces on my fingers. I think my mom was going mental at some point because I would only talk to her through my fingers... I know crazy, right? If I saw a family of icons walking down the street or playing at the beach, I'd probablly think someone slip something on my drink... But Yvette Helin's "The Pedestrian Project" is not part of someone's hallucinations but a real ongoing performance. Yvette, a costume designer herself, created the "Peds" to make artwork in a public arena and be free from the limitations of public sculptural installations. Once I read a guideline for things to be considered ‘cute’, I can’t remember all of the criteria, but I do remember that one was petiteness… When something is teeny-tiny, its cute. Although there are many tiny things that are not cute like bed bugs per se, but bed bugs with tiny outfits, now we’re talking cuteness. Origami is sort of cute, but nano origami is definitely cute. When we think of wrestling, we think: bulky people, scary muscles, sweat, blood, punches and ridiculously tight tights. We don’t necessarily associate the sport with the term “cute” until, colombian designer Mister Manolo ventured in a collection of DIY paper doll wrestlers called Los Luchadores. Each doll has been designed by a different artist hence their diverse looks and personalities, but they all look like they can definitely kick some major paper ass in their wrestling ring. I know what you are thinking, they look so cute that seem complicated to assemble… but no. I have to confess I’ve never been able to do origami, the most I’ve made out of paper was a paper ball and maybe once a paper plane, but it didn’t even flew. However I was able to assemble my very own paper wrestler without losing any of my limbs or his. Having work meetings with a Lego made boardroom table has to be fun…ABGC Architects designed a stunning table especially manufactured for Boys and Girls, advertising agency. It was only a matter of time, for the peeps at Mattel to caught up on the Mad Men phenomenon and scaled down Don Draper, Betty, Roger Sterling and Joan Holloway so we could finally get our hands on them, and play! The dolls will be part of the Barbie Fashion Model Collection that have previously featured “I love Lucy” and “The X Files” characters. The dolls will be sold at amctv.com and barbiecollector.com for a suggested retail price of $74.95 each. Clearly, they’ve toned down the characters a bit, Mrs. Holloway is less busty, and the accessories does not include any martinis nor cigarettes, but they will come with fun period accessories like hats, overcoats and pearls. Gummy bears are so cute I feel bad sometimes for eating them. They are by far the cutest candy from the bunch, (eat your hearts out hershey’s kisses.) Not only are they yummy but also good looking enough to showcase beyond the candy store. I bumped into http://www.toyvoyagers.com/ and I have to say its one of my favorite findings of the year so far… The website puts little toys into big adventures traveling all over the world, which happens to be one of my fave hobbies.

Their site invites you to be the host of any toy voyager and show him/her around your town, or you can create your very own toy voyager and set it free into the wild to see what’s out there. If you’re lucky, you might stumble into a toy voyager on the street and take it in for an impromptu soirée in your kitchen, take it to a concert, a museum exhibit or the beach. Anything can happen.

Each toy voyager has its travelog where they blog about their trips and post pictures of their adventures. Their promotional taglines are hilarious “Don’t get stuck in the shelf” and “700 toys can’t be wrong”. You’ll probably have as much fun as your small friend while taking him around… Best of all, participating is free, all you need as their founders, Isobel and Neil put it is “a good sense of humour and a willingness to be stared at whilst randomly photographing a soft toy in front of a famous monument.”

My nativity scene

I live by myself but I do have a couple of roommates, my toy collection. This year (very much like last) I held a casting call among my tiny flatmates to use them for my nativity scene. This year Mary was performed by my Little Beyonce, Joseph’s part was done by Heidi (Girl of the Alps) and Baby Jesus by Wall-E’s obsessive compulsive cleaning robot ‘M-O’.

The Three Wise Men were performed by Stay Puft Marshmallow Man (from Ghostbusters), Pocoyo and the Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster. Who do you think plays better the part?

Believe it or not there is a new band in town that has cuter members than The Jonas Brothers: The Clever Hamsters. Meet Miles on the saxophone, Dizzy on the oboe, Fats on the trumpet and "The Duke" on the harmonica. The group is part of the creative strategy developed by the UK agency CHI & Partners for Drench Spring Water. Effective and cute! Lego has always been an exciting part of my life, as a kid and even now as an adult who can’t seem to let go of her inner child.

So you can only imagine how excited I was to see the amazing revival of the classic toys brand by artist Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, who designed a Spring / Summer 3001 collection using Lego dolls as models. Kate Moss has nothing on this gracious models, who strutted the runway showing pop inspired designs that not even the queen of fashion herself, Anna Wintour wanted to miss.
